In his Daily Briefing column, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano revealed Newcastle’s continued interest in Calvert-Lewin, who has yet to make any headway in contract negotiations.
John Textor’s takeover of Everton has been delayed as he’s still trying to sell his 45 per cent stake in Crystal Palace.
Textor wants to profit from his position, whilst fellow investors Josh Harris and David Blitzer simply want their money back.
So, while that process is underway, Everton cannot make any transfer plans or extend current players’ contracts.
Newcastle are on high alert regarding Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s position.
“There is nothing concrete or advanced yet in terms of a new Everton contract for Dominic Calvert-Lewin,” Romano wrote.
“It’s something they are likely to decide in the next months, no substantial changes now.
“There’s not only Newcastle among clubs interested – many other clubs are also attentive to his situation at Everton, but again, I’ve been told it’s not a topic for September for sure.”

Newcastle were interested in Calvert-Lewin over the summer, but they opted out owing to Everton’s high price.
The 27-year-old is thought to be worth roughly £40 million to the Toffees, which is considered too much for a player who will be out of contract next year.
At this point, Calvert-Lewin will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January.
