Cincinnati Bengals superstar wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was added to the injury report on Wednesday due to a shoulder ailment.
Chase is categorized as limited during Wednesday’s practice. Chase’s injury report listing is simply an estimate, as the Bengals are only conducting walkthroughs two days after their loss to the Washington Commanders.
It’s all precautionary, and Chase should be on the field for the Bengals Week 4 contest. Chase is coming off his best game of the year on Monday, recording six receptions for 118 yards, two touchdowns, and averaged 19.7 yards per reception.
Although the Bengals didn’t come out with a win, their offense was encouraging and looked like the dominant offense we all expected them to be led by quarterback Joe Burrow. While Chase’s injury is not a big deal, the Bengals’ current record of 0-3 is not ideal. The Bengals have had trouble at the start of the season, and this slow start could bite them in the butt once the dust is settled. Chase isn’t the only one who appeared on the injury report. Defensive end Trey Hendrickson (illness), defensive tackle B.J. Hill (hamstring), tight end Tanner Hudson (knee), and defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins (hamstring) were listed as non-participants.
Right tackle Trent Brown, who tore his patellar tendon on Monday night, is ruled out for the season. Brown was carted off the field during the Bengals loss to the Commanders. While Brown is expected to make a full recovery, he is on a one-year contract and has an extensive history of unavailability. The Bengals signed Brown to a one-year, $4.75 million contract deal in March. Offensive lineman Amarius Mims, who the Bengals selected in the first round in this year’s draft, is expected to be a key piece to the offensive line moving forward. The Bengals season has not gone as planned; however, as long as they have Burrow and Chase in tact, Cincinnati could be just fine moving forward. This team has all the talent in the world, and it all starts and ends with this quarterback and wide receiver duo.
Chasen announced earlier this month that he had no plans to negotiate a long-term contract this season. Chase’s talks with the Bengals are on hold for the time being, and possibly for the rest of the season as well. Chase has no choice but to wager on himself, and whether he stays with the Bengals or not, he will expect to be compensated when the time comes.
