Moreover, Georgia is dealing with the aftermath of sending a record number of players to the NFL over the last two drafts. While this is a testament to the program’s success, it’s also meant that the team has had to replace a lot of leadership and experience. The Bulldogs’ defense, once impenetrable, has not been as dominant this season, especially in the pass rush. Replacing generational talents like Jalen Carter and Nakobe Dean was always going to be a challenge, and while there’s plenty of young talent, it’s clear that the defense is still gelling.
Offensive Identity Issues
In the past, Georgia’s offense was built around a bruising run game, complemented by a methodical passing attack. This season, however, that identity seems less clear. The run game has been inconsistent, and while Beck has shown he can sling the ball, the offense has struggled to find balance. The play-calling at times has been conservative, especially in the red zone, leading to a lack of explosive plays. The absence of Todd Monken, who left for the NFL, has been noticeable. His replacement, Mike Bobo, has faced criticism for not maintaining the same level of creativity and efficiency.
Special Teams Struggles
Special teams, often overlooked but crucial in close games, have also been a sore spot for Georgia this season. Kicking has been inconsistent, and field position has been a problem in certain key moments. This is an area where small adjustments can make a big difference, especially as the Bulldogs enter the heart of their SEC schedule.

Kirby Smart has built a powerhouse program that still has all the tools to compete for another national title.
