This season, the Lions have showcased an explosive offense, currently ranking third in the league with an average of 30.3 points per game and second in yards per play. Williams has contributed significantly to this success, accumulating 361 receiving yards and three touchdowns, nearly matching his total production from his first two years with the team. His growth in Year 3 has not only boosted his personal statistics but has also altered how opposing defenses approach the Lions’ offensive schemes.
Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson noted that defenses are increasingly wary of isolating Williams due to his speed and playmaking ability. He pointed out that Williams’ presence has allowed other players to thrive in favorable matchups, enhancing the overall dynamic of the offense. “Defenses don’t want to single him out because he will make them pay,” Johnson explained, highlighting the strategic adjustments teams have made in response to Williams’ abilities.
