Vice President Kamala Harris joins SNL, following previous appearances by presidential candidates such as Barack Obama and Donald Trump.
Vice President Kamala Harris appeared on Saturday Night Live today, performing with her doppelganger Maya Rudolph in the opening skit.
Although both Harris and her opponent, former President Donald Trump, have embraced podcasts over traditional media, appearing on SNL is not uncommon for presidential candidates.
This is Harris’ first appearance on SNL, but previous presidential contenders have featured on the show, notably Barack Obama in 2007 and Donald Trump in 2015. Notably, Trump’s 2015 guest-hosting gig was his third appearance on SNL.
Other presidents and presidential candidates who have appeared on SNL during its 49-year run include Gerald Ford and Senator John McCain.
