Joel Klatt’s Updated Top 10 Rankings: Oregon, Ohio State, and Texas Hold Top Spots
Following a wild Week 13 in college football, FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt released his updated Top 10 rankings. The top three spots remained unchanged, with Oregon, Ohio State, and Texas holding strong.
Top 3 Remain Unchanged
Oregon Ducks (11-0): Klatt kept the Ducks at the top spot, despite being idle in Week 13. Oregon’s head-to-head victory over Ohio State earlier this season solidifies their position.
Ohio State Buckeyes (10-1): The Buckeyes impressed with a convincing 38-15 win over previously undefeated Indiana. Ohio State hosts Michigan on Saturday, looking to remove the monkey off their back after three straight losses in the rivalry series.
Texas Longhorns (10-1): The Longhorns continue their reign atop the SEC standings in their first season in the conference. They face a tough test at College Station against Texas A&M, with the winner locking up a berth in the SEC Championship Game.
Movement Beyond the Top 3
Penn State Nittany Lions (10-1): Penn State moved up one spot after a narrow 26-25 win over Minnesota. They remain a strong contender for a first-round home game in the College Football Playoff.
Georgia Bulldogs (9-2): Georgia moved up one spot, thanks to losses by Alabama and Ole Miss. The Bulldogs locked up a SEC Championship Game berth and will face either Texas or Texas A&M.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish (10-1): Notre Dame jumped four spots after averaging 457.25 total yards and 46.75 points per game over their last four games. They must still face USC on the road but look like a serious threat in the College Football Playoff.
Tennessee Volunteers (9-2): Tennessee moved up two spots after a 56-0 win over UTEP. They remain in prime position to host a first-round Playoff game without needing to play for the SEC Championship.
Miami Hurricanes (10-1): Miami jumped three spots after rolling over Wake Forest 42-14. QB Cam Ward returned to form, and the Hurricanes will need an even better showing at Syracuse to lock up the other ACC Championship Game bid.
Indiana Hoosiers (10-1): Indiana dropped five spots after being exposed by Ohio State, limiting them to a season-low 151 yards of total offense.
SMU Mustangs (10-1): SMU entered the Top 10 after clinching a spot in the ACC Championship Game with a convincing 33-7 win over Virginia.
Klatt’s updated rankings reflect the ever-changing landscape of college football. With only one week left in the regular season, teams are fighting for positioning in their respective conferences and the College Football Playoff.
