I would also infer that you believed the Cowboys had little chance of winning on the road against the Washington Commanders. Why would you have expected them to, though? Even the most hopeful Cowboys fan has been disappointed with the club this season.
Without fandom, oddsmakers believed Dallas had no chance in this game. Obviously, things vary depending on which sportsbook you check at, but the Cowboys were generally considered double-digit point underdogs.
ESPN’s Todd Archer pointed out after the game that Dallas closed as a 10.5-point underdog over at ESPN BET. Given that Dallas wound up winning, this was their first victory as an underdog of at least that variety since Week 10 of the 2010 season when they also won on the road against a division rival. That day it was the New York Giants.
For what it’s worth, being deemed a double-digit point underdog is not something that happens all the time, and it’s certainly not a nice thing for any club, so Dallas wasn’t 0-100 in such games.
Still, it’s great to know that the Cowboys took care of business when no one expected them to, and that they upset a division foe along the way.
