The stage is set for the 88th edition of the historic Iron Bowl rivalry game between Auburn and Alabama. The two SEC powerhouses will clash on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, with Auburn seeking revenge against their in-state rivals.
Auburn’s star freshman receiver, Cam Coleman, has vowed to “take over” the atmosphere in Tuscaloosa, calling the game a part of Auburn’s “revenge tour.” Coleman’s bold statement has added fuel to the already intense rivalry.
“We’re going in their place and we’re really just going to go into their crib and just take over and have fun while we’re doing it,” Coleman said.
Auburn’s freshman linebacker, Demarcus Riddick, also made headlines with his comments about Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe and star freshman receiver Ryan Williams.
“Ryan Williams is Ryan Williams,” Riddick said. “Yeah, he’s electric, all this and that. In my eyes, he ain’t really nobody to me.”
Riddick also expressed confidence in his ability to contain Milroe, saying, “He’s not faster than me…
He will not get out that box this week.”
Alabama, under the guidance of first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer, will look to bounce back from a devastating upset loss to Oklahoma last week. The Crimson Tide are listed as 11.5-point favorites, but Auburn’s momentum and confidence could make for a thrilling matchup.
