Gushue Girls Ready to Rock Home Ice Advantage at National Curling Tournament
The Kioti National curling tournament is coming to St. John’s, and the Gushue Girls are ready to cheer on their favorite team, led by Newfoundland and Labrador’s Brad Gushue. Since 2016, this group of superfans from Gander has been following Team Gushue, and their enthusiasm has made them a household name.
The Gushue Girls are known for their bright pink shirts with letters spelling out Gushue’s name, which always seem to catch the eye of fans both in the building and watching from home. According to Nancy Dawe, one of the Gushue Girls, “Brad Gushue is the best curler in the world.” The group’s dedication to Team Gushue is unwavering, and they always watch their every move with bated breath.
The Mary Brown’s Centre in St. John’s is expected to be filled with intense supporters during the tournament, and the Gushue Girls are excited to be a part of it. Jeanne Collins, another member of the group, notes that curling fans are a dedicated bunch, and Brad Gushue is a huge draw, especially among women. “They just adore him,” Collins says.
The Gushue Girls have also built a following of their own, thanks to their numerous trips to support Team Gushue outside of Newfoundland and Labrador. They often meet fans from other provinces who share their enthusiasm for Brad Gushue and Team Gushue. As Collins puts it, “People come up to us and say, ‘We’re from Ontario, but we’re really cheering for Brad Gushue. We just love him.’ So that’s a riot.”
With their pink shirts and unstoppable enthusiasm, the Gushue Girls are sure to make their presence felt at the Kioti National curling tournament in St. John’s. They’ll be cheering on Team Gushue every step of the way, and they’re excited to see their favorite team compete on home ice.
