Texas Longhorns Prepare for SEC Championship Rematch Against Georgia Bulldogs
The Texas Longhorns are gearing up for a rematch against the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game, scheduled to take place in just a few days. This matchup comes after the Bulldogs dominated the Longhorns 30-15 earlier in the season.
Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian is well aware of the challenge his team faces, stating, “It’s a very good football team on the road — essentially a road game for us going to Atlanta to play Georgia — so we’ve got to pack the things necessary to put ourselves in position to have some success Saturday.”
A crucial factor in the Longhorns’ success will be the performance of quarterback Quinn Ewers, who has been nursing an ankle injury over the past two weeks. Despite this, Ewers played against Texas A&M and participated in practice this week, showing no significant setbacks.
In a significant boost to Ewers’ morale, he has been announced as a finalist for the prestigious Manning Award, which recognizes the nation’s best quarterback. Ewers is one of 10 finalists, including Georgia’s Carson Beck.
The Manning Award, created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, honors the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton, and Eli Manning. This year’s winner will be announced after the postseason games.
Ewers has had an impressive season, completing over 67% of his passes for 2,307 yards, with 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
