Darrion Smith, a highly touted defensive tackle, has made a significant switch in his college commitment. He’s flipped from Tennessee to Auburn, citing the family-oriented atmosphere and the coaching staff’s vision for the program.
Smith, who’s ranked as the No. 58 defensive lineman in the country, was impressed by Auburn’s coaching staff, particularly defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams.
Smith’s decision to flip to Auburn comes after an official visit to the campus, where he witnessed the Tigers’ thrilling 43-41 win over Texas A&M in four overtimes.
He was joined by his two 2025 teammates and Auburn commits, Blake Woodby and Bryce Deas, as well as 2026 commit Wayne Henry.
The 6-foot-2, 260-pound defensive tackle is expected to play a significant role in Auburn’s defense, bringing versatility and athleticism to the table ². Smith’s commitment is a big boost to Auburn’s recruiting class, which now ranks seventh in the national team rankings.
