Nebraska Football’s Matt Rhule Addresses Dylan Raiola Transfer Rumors
Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule has weighed in on the recent transfer rumors surrounding quarterback Dylan Raiola. Rhule’s comments come as the Cornhuskers prepare to face Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl on December 28.
Raiola, a highly touted freshman quarterback, has been the subject of speculation regarding his potential departure from Nebraska. However, Rhule emphasized that Raiola is focused on the team’s upcoming bowl game and has been fully engaged in practice.
“He’s at practice right now and is going through the game plan,” Rhule said. “I don’t speak for our players, I know he put a message out last night; I think there’s always going to be rumors but I don’t deal in rumors, I deal in facts. He’s here, he’s with us, he’s been all in for us and he’s a good enough player that every school in the country should probably come to try to recruit him.”
Raiola himself has expressed his commitment to the team, posting “All in! GBR” on his Instagram account. The quarterback has also spoken about his goals for the future, stating that he aims to lead the Cornhuskers to the College Football Playoffs next season.
“Playoffs next year, it’s as simple as that,” Raiola said.
Rhule also addressed the mindset of coaching players who may be considering transferring. He emphasized that his approach is to focus on the players who are present and committed to the team.
“We go out every day, and we coach the players that are out there for that day,” Rhule said. “If a guy’s got class, then we don’t coach them. If a guy’s sick, we don’t coach them, and if a guy’s decided that he might want to leave, we don’t coach them.”
The Cornhuskers are set to face Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl, with kickoff scheduled for December 28. Nebraska is looking to finish the season with a winning record, and Rhule is confident that his team is focused and ready for the challenge.
