The Oklahoma Sooners have reason to be excited about their latest recruits, freshman running backs Xavier Robinson and Taylor Tatum. Both high school stars have been impressing teammates and coaches alike in preseason training camp.

Robinson, a 3-star recruit from Carl Albert High School in Midwest City, Oklahoma, has been making waves with his physical presence and powerful running style. At 6 feet and 222 pounds, he’s a force to be reckoned with on the field. His experience in spring practice and participation in the Alamo Bowl have given him a slight edge, but Tatum is quickly closing the gap.

Tatum, a consensus 4-star recruit from Longview, Texas, has been turning heads with his unique passing abilities and natural athletic talent. Despite arriving in June, he’s quickly picked up the nuances of the OU passing game, impressing quarterback Jackson Arnold. “Taylor has added a unique passing level to our game,” Arnold said. “He’s definitely a really good option for this year.”

Both Robinson and Tatum have been getting plenty of reps in drills and have even seen rotational work in scrimmages. Their teammates and coaches are impressed with their work ethic, competitiveness, and natural ability.

“Xavier is a mature, physical presence who runs the football with power and authority,” said coach Brent Venables. “Taylor can take the top off the defense. He’s a home run hitter at running back.”

The Sooners’ coaching staff is excited about the potential of their new dynamic duo. With their impressive skills and work ethic, Robinson and Tatum are poised to make a significant impact on the field this season.
