According to McElroy, the matchup favors Texas, and he expects the Longhorns to capitalize on Clemson’s struggles in the run game. McElroy emphasized that Clemson’s inability to establish a strong running game, particularly if Phil Mafah fails to regain his early-season form, will significantly hinder their chances of success.
“Unless Phil Mafah reverts back to who he was in the first eight or nine games of the year, I cannot envision Clemson having a lot of success running the football,” McElroy stated. “I think Texas wins this thing going away. I just don’t know if Clemson will be able to score to keep up,” McElroy concluded.
