In a significan development, highly touted offensive lineman Luke Petitbon has flipped his commitment from Wake Forest to Florida State University (FSU). This move is expected to bolster the Seminoles’ offense, which has been struggling in recent seasons.
Petitbon, a talented center, had initially committed to Wake Forest but made the surprise switch after logging an impressive 813 snaps throughout the 2024 season. His performance earned him a stellar 93 percent grade, with three knockdowns and no sacks allowed in one notable game. According to Pro Football Focus, Petitbon consistently ranked among the best centers in the nation, boasting an 88.3 pass-blocking grade that placed him third nationally among qualified centers.
The talented lineman’s stats are a testament to his skill, having allowed only one sack throughout the entire season. This achievement tied him for the fewest sacks allowed in the conference among ACC centers. Petitbon’s impressive performance in 2024 followed a strong sophomore season in 2023, where he started 11 games and accumulated 809 total snaps.
A former standout at Gonzaga in Washington D.C., Petitbon was one of the most sought-after offensive linemen in the country coming out of high school. He participated in the prestigious Under Armour All-American Game, further solidifying his reputation as a top prospect.
The Seminoles, who endured a dismal 2-10 season, will be looking to turn things around in 2025. The addition of Petitbon, combined with the transfer of Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos, who rushed for over 1,100 yards in 2023, may provide the spark needed to revitalize the team’s offense.
