Texas Longhorns in Contention for Top 2026 Cornerback Prospect
The Texas Longhorns have been named among the elite finalists for the highly coveted 2026 four-star cornerback Davon Benjamin. This development is a significant boost to the Longhorns’ recruiting efforts, as they aim to strengthen their secondary with top talent.
Benjamin, a standout player from Oaks Christian in Westlake Village, California, is ranked as the No. 4 safety and No. 47 overall player in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports’ rankings. His impressive skills and versatility have attracted offers from numerous top programs, including Oregon, Ohio State, Georgia, Miami, Washington, USC, and UCLA.
The Texas Longhorns extended an offer to Benjamin on May 4, and he has also received offers from other prominent programs like Michigan, LSU, Arizona State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, BYU, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and UNLV.
Scouting reports from 247 national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins highlight Benjamin’s ability to play both safety and corner. Biggins notes that Benjamin “plays a lot of safety for Oaks to keep him more involved and allow him to make more plays” and could potentially play either position in college.
As a cornerback, Benjamin demonstrates physicality at the line, fluid hip movement, excellent closing speed, and the ability to keep pace with any receiver. These skills make him an attractive prospect for the Longhorns, who are seeking to bolster their defensive backfield.
If the Longhorns can secure a commitment from Benjamin, he would join a promising 2026 class that already includes four-star quarterback Dia Bell and three-star receiver Chris Stewart.
