Quinn Ewers’ Rise to Prominence: A Father’s Influence
Quinn Ewers, the talented quarterback of the Texas Longhorns, owes a significant part of his success to his father, Curtis Ewers. From a young age, Curtis encouraged Quinn’s passion for football, spending countless hours with him in their backyard, practicing throws and perfecting his technique.
Early Beginnings
Born in San Antonio in 2003, Quinn grew up in Pleasanton before moving to Southlake in the third grade. His father, Curtis, a former high school quarterback himself, recognized Quinn’s natural talent and dedicated time to nurturing it. The duo’s backyard sessions became a staple of their relationship, with Curtis incorporating fun drills to develop Quinn’s skills.
Developing a Winning Mindset
One particular drill, which emphasized throwing perfect spirals, played a crucial role in shaping Quinn’s exceptional release. Curtis recalls, “The competition became the first guy who didn’t throw a spiral lost.” This drill not only honed Quinn’s throwing technique but also instilled a competitive mindset.
A Supportive Father
Curtis’s commitment to Quinn’s development extended beyond their backyard sessions. He coached Quinn in organized youth sports and made sacrifices in his professional life to prioritize their time together. Curtis reflects, “I probably didn’t advance in that career because a lot of the time that I was coaching Quinn in youth sports and being with him…I was available to him.”
Quinn’s Rise to Prominence
Quinn’s hard work and dedication paid off as he became one of the nation’s top quarterback prospects. He enrolled at Ohio State, where he spent a season as an understudy to C.J. Stroud, before transferring to Texas. Under the guidance of coach Steve Sarkisian, Quinn has flourished, leading the Longhorns to consecutive playoff appearances.
A Bright Future Ahead
As Quinn prepares to face Ohio State in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff, his father couldn’t be prouder. Curtis beams, “He continues to show us who he is amidst everything that’s going on in the world.” With his exceptional release, competitive spirit, and supportive family behind him, Quinn Ewers is poised for greatness.
