Texas Longhorns Head Coach Steve Sarkisian Praises Quinn Ewers in Emotional Farewell
The Texas Longhorns’ 28-14 loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl marked the end of an era for the Longhorns, as quarterback Quinn Ewers likely played his last college game. Ewers announced before the game that he doesn’t plan to play college football next season.
Sarkisian gave an emotional speech about Ewers, praising his leadership, work ethic, and dedication to the team. “I’m super proud of Quinn,” Sarkisian said. “He’s taught me a lot… He never rode the emotional roller coaster of public opinion. All he did was come to work every day, be a great teammate, and work on his craft.”
Ewers leaves a lasting legacy at Texas, ranking third in program history with 9,128 passing yards and 68 passing touchdowns. He helped the Longhorns return to national relevance, leading the team to back-to-back semifinal appearances.
Ewers credited Sarkisian and the coaching staff for transforming the Texas football program. “Growing up as a Longhorn and being able to play for the Longhorns has been cool to be a part of,” Ewers said. “I hope we made the fans proud with our performances this year.”
