Astonishing Ranking: Florida State Legacy Antonio Cromartie Jr. Rated as Three-Star Prospect
In a surprising turn of events, Florida State legacy Antonio Cromartie Jr. has been rated as a three-star prospect by multiple recruiting services. This ranking comes after Cromartie Jr. committed to the Seminoles earlier this week, following an official visit to Tallahassee.
Cromartie Jr., the son of former Florida State standout and first-round NFL Draft pick Antonio Cromartie, had a solid senior season at Carrollton High School. He recorded 85 tackles, four forced fumbles, four pass breakups, and one interception, helping his team finish 14-3 and reach the state championship.
Despite his impressive high school career, Cromartie Jr. was not highly ranked by recruiting services. On 247Sports, he is listed as the No. 1975 overall prospect, the No. 166 cornerback, and the No. 217 recruit in Georgia in the 2025 class. On3 has him ranked as the No. 169 cornerback and the No. 231 recruit in the Peach State, while Rivals also rates him as a three-star prospect.
Cromartie Jr.’s commitment to Florida State is significant, as he is the 37th newcomer to join the Seminoles’ 2025 class. The class, which includes 21 high school/JUCO prospects and 16 transfers, is currently ranked No. 18 in the country.
The Seminoles have a deep pool of defensive backs, with 12 scholarship players eligible to return in 2025. However, Cromartie Jr.’s addition provides a boost to the team’s secondary, which also includes recent signees Gregory Xavier Thomas, Shamar Arnoux, and Max Redmon.
While Cromartie Jr.’s three-star rating may be seen as surprising, it is essential to remember that recruiting rankings are not always an accurate indicator of a player’s potential. Florida State fans will be eager to see how Cromartie Jr. develops and contributes to the team’s success in the coming years.
With National Signing Day approaching in February, Florida State’s 2025 class is expected to continue growing. The Seminoles’ coaching staff, led by head coach Mike Norvell, will look to add more talent to the roster, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
