Ohio State University has announced the promotion of Brian Hartline to offensive coordinator, following the departure of Chip Kelly to the Las Vegas Raiders. Hartline, a former standout wide receiver for the Buckeyes and NFL veteran, has been a pivotal figure in Ohio State’s coaching staff since 2017. He initially joined as a quality control coach and was elevated to wide receivers coach in 2018. His coaching prowess was further recognized in 2022 when he took on the role of passing game coordinator.
Under Hartline’s guidance, Ohio State’s receiving corps has flourished. He has been instrumental in developing elite talents such as Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, all of whom have made significant impacts at both the collegiate and professional levels. His recruiting acumen is also noteworthy, consistently attracting top-tier wide receiver prospects to the program.
Head coach Ryan Day expressed confidence in Hartline’s capabilities, stating, “Brian has been successful in every football capacity for which he has been engaged. He figures things out quickly and he is more than ready to now transition to offensive coordinator.”
