The Oklahoma Sooners softball team is gearing up for another exciting weekend at Love’s Field, following an impressive performance at the Getterman Classic hosted by Baylor.
The team’s outstanding display earned them two prestigious SEC weekly awards. Sophomore Ella Parker was named Co-SEC Softball Player of the Week, while senior Sam Landry secured the SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week award.
Parker’s back-to-back win is a testament to her exceptional skills, which have been on full display in the first two weeks of the season. Landry, on the other hand, made history by becoming the first Oklahoma Softball player to receive a weekly pitching honor as a member of the SEC. This achievement is even more impressive considering Landry’s transfer to OU from Louisiana prior to the 2025 season.
Landry’s perfect game against No. 23 Baylor on Sunday was a highlight of the weekend. She struck out eight batters and threw just 61 pitches across two games. Her perfect game was the 23rd in program history and the second this season. When asked about her achievement, Landry admitted to being aware of the perfect game but didn’t let it affect her performance. Instead, she relied on her team’s solid defense and hitters to secure the win.
Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso praised Parker’s growth and maturity, citing her athleticism and learning as key factors in her success. Parker’s impressive stats, including a .647 batting average, 22 hits, and 7 doubles, have earned her the top spot in the SEC. Her 10-game hitting streak and consistent scoring have made her a force to be reckoned with on the field.
