
University of Tennessee’s Zakai Zeigler Named Finalist for Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award
Knoxville, Tennessee – The University of Tennessee’s men’s basketball team has reason to celebrate as standout player Zakai Zeigler has been named a finalist for the prestigious Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award. This recognition is a testament to Zeigler’s outstanding performance on the court, showcasing his exceptional skills as a point guard.
Zeigler, a 5-foot-9, 172-pound player, has been a driving force behind the Volunteers’ success this season. He has recorded a half-dozen assists in 23 appearances, with eight-plus assists on 13 occasions. His impressive stats have earned him a spot among the top players in the country.
In addition to being a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, Zeigler has received numerous other accolades. He is ranked ninth in (link unavailable)’s National Player of the Year standings and No. 11 in (link unavailable)’s Player Ratings. Zeigler was also on the midseason watch lists for the Naismith Trophy, Oscar Robertson Trophy, and Wooden Award. For the third consecutive year, he has been named among the 15 members of the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watch List.
The Bob Cousy Award is presented annually to the top point guard in men’s college basketball. The award is named after legendary point guard Bob Cousy, who played for the Boston Celtics from 1950 to 1963. The winner of the award will be presented during Final Four weekend, along with the winners of the other four Starting Five awards.
Fan voting for the Bob Cousy Award will begin on March 7 on (link unavailable) Fans can cast their votes to support their favorite player, and the Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.
Zeigler and the fourth-ranked Tennessee Volunteers (24-5, 11-5 SEC) will wrap up their regular season road competition on Wednesday, March 6, at 9 p.m. ET against Ole Miss. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 from The Sandy and John Black Pavilion in Oxford, Mississippi.
