On March 18, 2025, the University of Alabama proudly announced that senior guard Mark Sears has been named to the Associated Press (AP) First Team All-America. This prestigious honor makes Sears only the second player in Crimson Tide history to receive AP First Team recognition, following Brandon Miller’s selection in 2023.
Sears, a native of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, has been instrumental in the team’s success this season. He leads the Crimson Tide with an average of 18.7 points per game, complemented by 4.9 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game. His consistent performance has been pivotal in guiding Alabama to a 25-8 record and securing a No. 2 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
This accolade adds to Sears’ growing list of honors. He was previously a semifinalist for the Naismith Player of the Year and a finalist for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year award. Over his collegiate career, Sears has amassed 1,876 points, placing him third on Alabama’s all-time scoring list.
The announcement comes at a crucial time, as Alabama prepares for its first-round matchup against No. 16 seed Robert Morris in the NCAA Tournament. Sears’ veteran experience and leadership are expected to be invaluable as the Crimson Tide aims for a deep postseason run.
