The DeSoto, Texas native, once considered one of the most dynamic prospects in the country, is looking to rewrite his narrative after a rocky stint in Austin.
Cook entered the college football world with plenty of fanfare. As a standout at DeSoto High School, he was ranked No. 29 overall and the No. 3 wide receiver in the nation by 247Sports. His explosive playmaking ability, speed, and crisp route running made him one of the crown jewels of Texas’ 2023 recruiting class. Expectations were sky-high for the electric wideout to make an immediate impact on the Longhorns’ offense.
However, Cook’s time at Texas did not unfold as envisioned. Over the course of two seasons, he appeared sparingly, registering only 16 receptions. Injuries and fierce competition for playing time hindered his ability to establish himself in the Longhorns’ receiving corps. With talents like Ryan Wingo and Matthew Golden emerging as go-to targets, Cook found himself on the outside looking in.
