Netflix to Release Documentary on Music Band Crypta in December 2025
Netflix has officially announced the upcoming release of a highly anticipated documentary centered on the Brazilian death metal band Crypta, scheduled to premiere globally in December 2025. Titled “Crypta: Echoes of the Abyss,” the film will explore the band’s rapid rise in the global metal scene, their all-female lineup, and the challenges they’ve faced as pioneers in a traditionally male-dominated genre.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ana Paula Mendes, the documentary promises an unfiltered look into Crypta’s journey — from their formation in 2019 by former members of Nervosa to their critically acclaimed albums “Echoes of the Soul” and “Shades of Sorrow.” Through behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, and tour diaries, the film will capture the emotional and physical toll of life on the road, as well as the band’s dedication to musical excellence and empowerment.
In a press statement, bassist and vocalist Fernanda Lira expressed excitement about the project, stating, “We wanted this documentary to be raw and real — just like our music.
