Veteran Detective Discovers Cache of Unreleased Alan Jackson Songs in Abandoned Nashville Apartment
NASHVILLE, TN – May 19, 2025 — In a surprising turn of events, a veteran detective with the Metro Nashville Police Department has uncovered what appears to be a collection of previously unreleased songs by country music legend Alan Jackson during a routine investigation of an abandoned apartment in East Nashville.
Detective Marcus Hill was conducting a follow-up inspection on the property, which had been vacant for nearly three years, after reports of trespassing and unusual activity. Upon entry, Hill discovered a locked footlocker beneath a pile of old furniture and recording equipment. Inside, he found dozens of handwritten lyrics, cassette tapes, and CD demos labeled with dates ranging from 1993 to 2006 — all bearing Alan Jackson’s name.
“I’ve worked hundreds of cases over the last 20 years,” said Hill, “but I never expected to find anything like this. At first, I thought it might’ve been a fan’s collection, but the materials looked original — even personal.”
The apartment, according to property records, was once leased under an alias linked to a former session guitarist who played on several Nashville studio albums
