Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Ryan Williams has been named one of the cover athletes for EA Sports College Football 26, alongside Ohio State standout Jeremiah Smith. The honor is not just a reflection of his explosive freshman season, but also a personal milestone for Williams, who grew up playing the video game. Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Williams described the moment he received the call as “a dream come true,” made even more special by sharing it with family.
The 17-year-old phenom didn’t just earn the cover with stats though his 48 catches, 865 yards, and eight touchdowns certainly stand out. His poise and leadership on and off the field, especially at such a young age, have made him a rising star in college football. Williams burst onto the national scene with two catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns in Alabama’s season-opening rout of Western Kentucky. His signature moment, however, came in a primetime thriller against No. 2 Georgia. Williams torched the Bulldogs for 177 yards, including a game-winning 75-yard touchdown with just over two minutes left—firmly establishing himself as one of the sport’s elite playmakers.
But it’s not just about the on-field success for Williams. He has taken pride in balancing academics, NIL obligations, and athletics. “Dean’s List is always good,” he told Sports Illustrated, “but I’m trying to be on the President’s List.” That balance, he says, is key to making the leap from good to great, both in football and in life.

The two have known each other since high school, and Williams expressed joy in sharing this moment with a close friend.
