Tennessee Titans to Honor Late Legend Steve McNair with Posthumous Award, Ceremony Set for August 11, 2025
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — June 1, 2025
The Tennessee Titans have announced they will honor franchise icon Steve McNair with a special posthumous award recognizing his lasting legacy both on and off the field. The “Steve McNair Legacy Award” will be presented to McNair’s family during a public ceremony at Nissan Stadium on August 11, 2025.
The award, established by the Titans organization in partnership with the McNair family and longtime community partners, will be given annually moving forward to individuals who exemplify the leadership, toughness, and community spirit that defined McNair’s life and career.
“Steve wasn’t just a great quarterback — he was the heart and soul of this team during some of its most defining years,” said Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk in a statement. “This award is a way for us to ensure that his legacy continues to inspire future generations, both within the Titans family and the Nashville community at large.”
McNair, affectionately known as “Air McNair,” spent 11 seasons with the franchise (1995–2005), leading the Titans to Super Bowl XXXIV and earning co-MVP honors in 2003. Off the field, he was widely respected for his charitable work and leadership in the Nashville and Mississippi communities.
The August 11 ceremony will include a tribute video, special appearances from former teammates and coaches, and remarks from members of the McNair family. Fans will be invited to attend as part of the team’s annual preseason kickoff festivities.
McNair’s widow, Mechelle McNair, expressed gratitude on behalf of the family. “Steve gave everything he had to this team and this city. To see his legacy honored in this way means the world to us. He would be so proud.”
Details regarding public attendance and ticket information will be released in the coming weeks via the Titans’ official website and social media channels.
The “Steve McNair Legacy Award” is expected to become a cornerstone of the Titans’ ongoing efforts to celebrate the players who helped shape the identity of the franchise.
